Volker Schlegel

Volker Schlegel (born June 9, 1942 in Leipzig ) is a former State Councilor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and former Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany .

Life

Volker Schlegel was born in Leipzig, he studied law and economics in Bonn , Freiburg and Cologne . After working as a lawyer in Düsseldorf , he joined the diplomatic service in Bonn with stations abroad in Geneva and Tehran , as head of the embassies in Singapore , Mali , Senegal and Jamaica and as economic envoy in Washington, DC

For more than four years he worked outside the public service as head of central sales for a large company in Cologne.

From 2002 to 2004 Schlegel was the FDP State Councilor for Economics and Labor in the Hamburg Senate.
