Great stone of Serams

The large stone from Serams is a boulder near Serams in the municipality of Zirkow on Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

It stands northeast of the village of Serams on the northwest side of the cycle and footpath leading to Binz .

The stone stands upright and reaches a height of more than two meters. It is believed that the stone originally served as a capstone for a large stone grave. Other large boulders are not far from the stone.

The great stone of Serams is the subject of legends . According to this, while the villagers were in the fields to work, a wolf is said to have come to Serams and abducted a heavily pregnant woman who had stayed behind in the village. The wolf brought the woman to his bed, which was by the big stone. There were several wolf cubs in the camp, one of which had a bone stuck in his throat. The woman removed the bone, whereupon the wolf brought her back to the village. According to another legend, there is a treasure beneath the stone.
