Great stone graves near Kosin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The megalithic graves near Kosin (also known as megalithic graves near Kossin ) were several megalithic graves of unknown numbers from the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Kosin ( German Kossin ), a district of Przelewice (German Prillwitz ) in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . They were destroyed in the 19th century.

location

According to a report from 1825, there were large stone graves in several places around Kosin, most of which were already badly destroyed at that time. One plant was located about 2500 paces (approx. 1.9 km) northwest of the place. The possible remains of another grave were 400 paces (approx. 300 m) north of Kosin. 1,800 paces (approx. 1.4 km) southwest of the village was at least one other, only partially preserved facility. Other graves were located northeast on the border with Kluki (German Klücken ).

description

All of the graves seem to have had trapezoidal barn beds . Your orientation varies. The grave to the northwest was oriented east-west with the front side in the east and the narrow side in the west. The southwest grave was probably oriented north-south. Around 1825 only the front face in the south was preserved. The plants on the border with Kluki were probably all orientated northeast-southwest. The exact dimensions of the systems have not been handed down. Nothing is known about burial chambers .
