Great stone graves near Stendell

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The megalithic graves near Stendell were several megalithic graves of unknown number, presumably from the Neolithic beaker culture near Stendell , a district of Schwedt / Oder in the Uckermark district ( Brandenburg ). They were destroyed in the 18th or 19th century. Johann Christoph Bekmann names “stone circles” for several places, in the middle of which there was often a larger stone. This refers to large stone graves with cap stones that have fallen into the burial chamber. For Stendell he names circles made up of 15–20 stones, but does not give any details about the number, orientation, dimensions or type of the systems. Leopold von Ledeburtook over Bekmann's report in the middle of the 19th century. The graves seem to have been completely destroyed by this time.
