The Hesselte large stone grave was a megalithic grave complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Hesselte , a district of Emsbüren in the Emsland district ( Lower Saxony ). It was destroyed in the 19th century.

location

The grave was located about 1 km north of Hesselte on the western steep bank of the Great Aa . In older literature a second grave is mentioned on the other bank of the Great Aa. However, this is no longer in the area of Hesselte, but rather the large stone grave Bramsche-Wesel 1 . The large stone graves Bramsche-Wesel 2 and 3 , which were destroyed in the 19th century, were located 2 km east and east-southeast . 3.1 km to the northwest was the large stone grave Gleesen , which was destroyed in 1893 .

description

In 1926 Ernst Sprockhoff could only make out a single capstone, which was 2.6 m long, 2.0 m wide and 0.9 m thick. However, he was abducted so that the exact location of the grave could no longer be determined. Information on orientation, dimensions and grave type is therefore not possible.
