The megalithic graves near Bramsche-Wesel were several megalithic graves near Wesel , a district of Bramsche , a village of Lingen (Ems) in the district of Emsland ( Lower Saxony ). Today only one of them remains in rests. The large stone grave is a passage grave from the Neolithic Age with the Sprockhoff no. 878. Two other graves were probably completely destroyed in the 19th century. The plants were built between 3500 and 2800 BC. Built by people of the funnel cup culture.

location

The remains of the preserved grave are about 1 km west of Wesel on the steep bank of the Great Aa . The second grave was west of the Hof van Werde on the road to Plantlünne , the third south of the Große Aa at Wintermanns Hof. The large stone grave Hesselte , which was destroyed in the 19th century, was a good 500 m northwest of grave 1 .

description

Grave 1

As far as can still be determined, it is a passage grave of the Emsland Chamber type . Only the mound remains, its length can be assumed to be 24 m, the width 15 m. All stones are missing. The chamber was oriented roughly west-east, the entrance connected to the south. The large stone grave must have been destroyed between 1841 and 1896 and the grave must have been deeply ransacked. In old reports the large stone grave is described as particularly beautiful and large.

Grave 2

No further information is available about grave 2. At its location there is still an east-west oriented flat hill with a length of 12 m and a width of 3 m. Possibly it is the embankment of the grave, which, however, cannot be considered certain without a closer examination.

Grave 3

No further information is available about grave 3.
