Great stone grave Holsten (Ankum)

The large stone grave Holsten was a megalithic grave complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Holsten , a district of Ankum in the district of Osnabrück ( Lower Saxony ). It was destroyed in the late 19th or early 20th century.

The grave was located southeast of the place on the highest point of a hill between the Ankumer and the Loxter Bach. There were seven burial mounds around the large stone grave .

description

According to a report from 1865, only three wall stones and one capstone were recognizable. More stones seemed to be stuck in the ground. A later examination showed that there were a total of 13 stones and the facility had a length of 17 to 18 paces (approx. 13-14 m). The exact type of grave cannot be determined from this information. Around 1890 the grave seems to have been preserved.
