Königsborn stone grave

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Königsborn large stone grave was a megalithic Neolithic burial complex near Königsborn , a district of Biederitz in the Jerichower Land district , Saxony-Anhalt . The tomb was destroyed in the late 18th century.

location

The grave was outside of Königsborn on the road to Nedlitz .

Research history

The facility was documented for the first time by Joachim Gottwalt Abel , who was pastor in Möckern between 1755 and 1806 . He left only handwritten notes on this, which were published by Ernst Herms in 1928 . According to Abel's report, the grave was completely demolished in 1785 by a landowner.

description

Since Abel could no longer inspect the grave himself, his description was vague. Apparently it had consisted of numerous stones of enormous size before it was removed. The shape and type of grave can no longer be deduced from this information.
