Great stone grave in Klein Ziethen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The large stone grave of Klein Ziethen was a megalithic grave, presumably of the Neolithic beaker culture, near Klein Ziethen , a district of Ziethen in the Barnim district ( Brandenburg ). It was discovered in 1985/86 while plowing on a hilltop and destroyed. An emergency excavation produced few results. The grave consisted of several large boulders, which were surrounded by a stone packing. There is no information about dimensions and alignment. The type cannot be determined either, Eberhard Kirsch only classifies the facility generally as a large stone grave or a possible block chamber, Hans-Jürgen Beier generally as a large stone grave . During the recovery, human skeletal remains, including skull fragments and teeth, were found in the overburden. Grave goods were not found.
