The large stone grave Ranzow is a grave complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture in the area of Ranzow, a district of the municipality of Lohme in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ).

location

The grave is located northeast of Ranzow and north of the Hotel Schloss Ranzow. There are several other large stone graves in the vicinity: The large stone graves at Hagen-Stubnitz are 1.3 km south and the large stone grave Nipmerow is 1.4 km southwest . There is also a burial mound north and south of the grave .

description

The complex, which was mistakenly used as a burial mound for a long time, is a large dolmen . By Ewald Schuldt and Hans-Jürgen Beier was mistakenly performed as destroyed. The wall stones of the burial chamber are all still preserved. Only one capstone has been completely preserved, but lies inside the chamber. The others are either scattered about or have been transported away. A flint chisel and a stone ax, which were found in Ranzow in 1906 and were initially acquired by a private collector, probably come from this grave. They later came to the Pomeranian State Museum in Greifswald via the Altona Museum in Altona .
