Groupe Madrigall is a French holding company . It is the parent company of several major publishers including Gallimard , Flammarion and Casterman .

Madrigall is one of the largest French publishing groups. The consolidated group turnover in 2014 was around 440 million euros. The company has the legal form of a Société Anonyme . As of 2015, Antoine Gallimard is President-directeur général .

With subsidiaries and branches in France, Belgium, Canada and Switzerland, the holding company operates the publishing business in the narrower sense, but also the distribution, wholesale and retail trade with publishing and media products.

history

Madrigall is an anagram of the name Gallimard . In 1992 Antoine Gallimard founded this holding company together with his sister Isabelle Gallimard. At the end of the 1990s, the Gallimard family bought their shares from the other shareholders, namely Einaudi and Havas . After that, the family's share of shares was around 60%. In January 2003, the remaining minority shareholders were bought out for around 98 million euros. Thereafter the family held 98% of the shares.

2012 bought Madrigall of RCS Media Group , the Groupe Flammarion off for 251 million euros.

In 2013, the Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton Group acquired a stake of 30 million euros in Madirgall's share capital. This corresponds to around 9.5% of the share capital.
