The Fortuna mine was an iron ore mine in Siegen - Eiserfeld / Niederschelden (area " Dreisbach ") in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

The Fortuna pit was awarded on May 17, 1827, and Fortuna IV was awarded its departments on October 31, 1874. On February 17 of the same year, a shaft was sunk . In 1875 it was already 75 m deep. The later total depth was 115 m. In 1971 it was secured and closed with a concrete cover at a depth of 20 m.

In 1876, 2,689 t, in 1877 5,614 t and 1878 7,378 t of iron stone were mined, the total output was 32,033 t of iron stone. In 1843, 10 tons of cobalt ore were also mined. In 1878 the workforce at the mine had 57 members. Independent funding was discontinued around 1885. From 1907 the Fortuna mine belonged to the neighboring Alte Dreisbach mine , with which work on the Fortuna fields was also stopped on June 15, 1928 .
