The Wingertshardt mine was an ore mine in Wingertshardt in the municipality of Hövels in the Altenkirchen district in Rhineland-Palatinate . The pit was in the Siegerland ore district .
history
The mine was first mentioned in 1740, and ore was probably already mined beforehand. The pit was re-lent on April 2, 1744 and December 1, 1766. Civil engineering was carried out from 1866 through a blind shaft. In 1891 the mine was closed due to water problems, but it was reopened in 1915 and an association with the mine association was established . In 1949 a breakthrough was made to the Friedrich mine . On December 31, 1957, the production was stopped, on January 31, 1963 it was finally shut down. 180 employees lose their jobs. In February 1968 the headframe was demolished. Together with the Mine Association, 9.3 million tons of iron ore were mined.
