The primary school at the cathedral in Trier is a private Catholic primary school sponsored by the Trier diocese . The school is closely associated with the cathedral choir at Trier Cathedral and focuses on musical and religious education.
history
The elementary school at the cathedral was named elementary school founded St. Paulin 1897th Since 1970, the primary school, which was previously municipal, has been the responsibility of the diocese. In 2006 it moved to a new building near the cathedral and was converted into an all-day school in cooperation with Trier Dommusik.
School profile
The pedagogical focus is on music lessons. From the first day of school, a compulsory 20-minute daily training course based on the Ward method complements the regular music lessons. This combines voice training , listening training , rhythm training and note values in a child-friendly way. From the 2nd school year onwards, students have the option of learning the violin, cello or piano with the music teachers of the cathedral music. However, these music lessons are chargeable. From the 3rd school year onwards, there is an ensemble lesson and participation in the choir.
The school also emphasizes Christian (Catholic) education. At the registration interview, the parents must present the baptismal certificate and the studbook.
renaming
In the course of the conceptual realignment, the move from St. Paulin's Church to Dominikanerstraße and the cooperation with the "Cathedral Choir", the school was renamed from "Episcopal Primary School St. Paulin" to "Primary School at the Cathedral" in September 2014.
