The PUHiT SA ( Spółka Akcyjna = Aktiengesellschaft) is a Warsaw hotel company that operates in Poland Hotels, hostels and conference centers under different brands. Mainly - since its introduction in 2004 - the brand START has been used, which today with 36 affiliated hotels is one of the leading hotel brands in the country. In Warsaw and Krakow , the company is one of the largest owners of mid-range and economic hotels.
history
The company was founded as PUHiT Sp. Z oo (GmbH) in 1997 as a result of the privatization of a state real estate group, which operated so-called “worker hotels ” (Polish: Hotel robotnicze ) in the Warsaw area. This predecessor company was founded in the 1960s. Since March 25, 2007 the company has been operating as a stock corporation. The majority of the company's shareholders are employees.
expansion
In August 2008, PUHiT took over three larger Krakow hotels and renovated them in succession. Today these hotels are categorized with 3 stars. With the entry into the Kraków hotel market, PUHiT opened the way to becoming a national hotel and event service provider. Shortly before the takeover, PUHiT had announced that it wanted to expand its START chain to 150 stores by the end of 2010. In December 2009, the Polish petrol station operator Lotus Paliwa announced that PUHiT will operate six hotels to be built at new rest areas on the A2 and A4 motorways under the START brand .
In February 2010 the company announced the construction of a new 4-star hotel in Warsaw. The new building, which will also have a conference area, is designed for around 200 rooms and is to be operated under an international brand.
Best Western
On March 1, 2011, the Hotel Felix in Warsaw's Praga district was renamed a Best Western hotel. It is the first hotel in Warsaw under this brand. After a renovation, the hotel has 227 rooms and three conference rooms. From September 2011 the Hotel Portos (also a 3-star hotel after renovation) will be operated under the Best Western brand. This hotel has 225 rooms and 2 conference rooms.
today
PUHiT currently operates 10 own houses in Warsaw and Krakow with a total capacity of 4,000 beds. These hotels are run in different categories and under different brands. In addition, the company operates the hotel brand START , to which a chain of 36 hotels (including two of its own properties) is connected throughout Poland and some of which are operated themselves. This brand addresses business people from small and medium-sized companies .
The two Warsaw conference centers are the Promenada (on the Zalew Zegrzyński reservoir ) and Galeria na Kole in Warsaw- Wola . In addition, eight Warsaw office properties with a total area of 20,000 square meters are managed. The company owns the 3-star hotels Monopol , RT Galicya and RT Regent in Krakow .
