Guahaihoque is the name of a Colombian folk metal band.
Band history
Guahaihoque was founded in 1996 in Cali , Colombia . In 1997 the group recorded their first demo tape, Shades of a Golden Past , and garnered attention in their country and outside of Colombia. In 1998 the band separated for some time for personal reasons, but became active again in 2004. A promotional track was created in 2005 and in 2007 the band released their debut album Return of the Ancient Gods .
Topic and style
The Inca culture and ancient beliefs are the subject of discussion. The band members, who themselves consist of mestizos and their descendants, want to bring the Inca realm of the folk / pagan metal scene closer to the combination of black / death metal influences and their own folk music .
