Gualtiero Brissoni

Gualtiero Brissoni (born February 2, 1954 ) is an Italian enduro athlete . He won the Enduro European Championship five times and was a member of the victorious trophy team at the International Six-Day Race from 1979 to 1981.

Career

Brissoni started motorsport in 1969. From 1972 he was a member of the SWM works team . That year he was second in the class up to 50 cm³ in the Italian championship. In 1973 and 1974 Brissoni won the Italian motorcycle off-road race Valli Bergamasche . In 1975 he became the Italian junior champion in motocross . The following year he became Italian enduro champion. Until 1983 he won a championship title every year. In the years 1980 to 1983 he was also master of all classes.

From 1972 he took part in the races for the Enduro European Championship. In 1972 he drove to a second place overall in the class up to 50 cm³. In 1978 he won the championship title on a SWM in the class up to 250 cm³ two-stroke. The following year he succeeded in doing this on SWM in the class up to 125 cm³. He was able to defend this title in 1980 at SWM. The long-standing member of the SWM factory team was lured away by Fantic for the 1981 season . Brissoni managed again to win the European title. In 1982 he became European champion in the class up to 250 cc on Husqvarna . He took part 15 times in the International Six-Day Tour. In 1975 he won with the Silbervase team on the Isle of Man . With the trophy team he was able to win three times in a row from 1979 to 1981. In 1982 he became the best driver.

In the Italian Senior Championship he won the title in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2007.
