Guan Meigu

Guan Meigu ( Chinese  管 梅 谷 , Pinyin Guǎn Méigǔ , also known as Kwan Mei-Ko in the English-speaking world ; * 1934 in Shanghai , China ) is a Chinese mathematician who deals with optimization and operations research .

Guan is best known for formulating the postman problem , which he formulated and researched as a lecturer at Shandong University in 1960 . From 1984 to 1990 he was President of Shandong University and from 1990 to 1995 Director of Operations Research at Fudan University in Shanghai. In 1995 he went to Australia to the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology .
