Guangji Si

The Guangji Si ( Guangji Temple , Chinese  廣濟寺 , Pinyin Guǎngjì Sì , W.-G. Kuang Chi Szu ) is a famous Buddhist temple on the Fuchengmen Street in Beijing District Xicheng . The temple was originally built during the Jin Dynasty (1125-1234) and was later expanded several times. It is the seat of the Chinese Buddhist Society ( Zhongguo Fojiao Xiehui ), the largest organization of Buddhists in China in the country.

Surname

The name roughly means "Temple of Extensive Help".

Monument protection

The Guangji Si has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-310) since 2006 . It is one of the national focus temples of Buddhism in Han Chinese areas .
