Xicheng ( Chinese 西 城区 , Pinyin Xīchéng qū , translated "western district") is a district of the Chinese capital Beijing .
Before the integration of the former Xuanwu district in Xicheng on July 1, 2010, it was the largest of the four districts that made up the historic old town. Xicheng now has an area of 50.53 km². In 1990 censuses, Xicheng had 1,312,690 residents, 1,232,823 in 2000, and 1,243,315 in 2010.
