Fengtai ( Chinese  丰台 区 , Pinyin Fēngtái Qū ) is a district of the Chinese capital Beijing .

The city district has an area of ​​305.8 km² and is located southwest of the city center. The 1990 census counted Fengtai 789,151 inhabitants, 1,369,480 in 2000, and 2,112,162 in 2010.

In contrast to the old town, urban settlement took place for a relatively short time. Fengtai was a rural area until the mid-1980s. Pig and goat stalls dominated the cityscape and large parts of the area were without electricity. Urbanization has only taken place since the economic boom.

The 3rd ring road , the 4th ring road and the 5th ring road of Beijing, as well as the Jingzhu expressway, pass through Fengtai .

The Beijing World Park and the Marco Polo Bridge (Ch. Lugou Qiao ) are located in the area of Fengtai.
