The stadium is located in the southwest of Beijing in the Fengtai district of the same name . In addition to the regular league games, Guoan received FC Barcelona on August 5, 2007 in the Fengtai Stadium, who had come to a friendly match as part of his trip to Asia. The Spaniards won the duel 3-0 in front of sold out ranks. In Guoan's last year at Fengtai Stadium, three group games of the AFC Champions League took place in the stadium.

In 2008 TVXQ played a concert at Fengtai Stadium and Kanye West was scheduled to perform in late September 2008, but the concert was rescheduled within Beijing at short notice. Since 2016, the Chinese second division team Beijing Renhe has been playing its home games at the Fengtai Stadium on a regular basis.
