The administrative urban area of Beijing - the core city in the southern center

The list of city districts of Beijing provides an overview of the development of the population of the city districts of the Chinese capital Beijing . The area, the population density and the location of the district in the city of Beijing are also listed.

The direct government city of Beijing in the People's Republic of China is divided into 16 districts. The administrative area of Beijing is not a contiguous urban area, but with its dominant rural settlement structure outside the core city (high building density and closed locality) would be more comparable to a small province. In administrative terms, Beijing is more comparable to the German city-states Berlin, Hamburg and Bremen.

The inner city of Beijing without a suburb is made up of six city districts . On 1 July 2010 the Municipality were Chongwen ( 崇文區 / 崇文区 , Chongwen Qū ) in the district Dongcheng and the District Xuanwu ( 宣武區 / 宣武区 , Xuānwǔ Qū ) in the District Xicheng incorporated.

Fengtai (丰台区: Fēngtái Qū ),
Haidian (海淀区: Hǎidián Qū ),
Shijingshan (石景山区: Shíjǐngshān Qū ),
Xicheng (西城区: Xīchéng Qū ).

Periphery

In the immediate vicinity of the city center there are another six city districts. Between 1986 and 2001, these were converted from districts into city districts.

Mentougou (门头沟区: Méntóugōu Qū ),
Fangshan (房山区: Fángshān Qū ) - Fangshan district until 1986,
Tongzhou (通州区: Tōngzhōu Qū ) - Tongxian district until 1997,
Shunyi (顺义区: Shùnyì Qū ) - Shunyi district until 1998,
Changping (昌平区: Chāngpíng Qū ) - Changping County until 1999,
Daxing (大兴区: Dàxīng Qū ) - Daxing district until 2001.

Rural environment

In the rural areas outside the core city, there are still four urban districts. These were formed from former circles in 2001 and 2015.

Pinggu District (平谷区: Pínggǔ Qū ) - Pinggu District until 2001,
Huairou District (怀柔区: Huáiróu Qū ) - Huairou District until 2001,
Miyun District (密云区: Mìyún Qū ) - Miyun District until 2015,
District Yanqing (延庆区: Yanqing Qū ) - Circle Yangqing up, 2015.

Table of boroughs

The table contains the results of the censuses of July 1, 1990, November 1, 2000 and November 1, 2010. The area and population density are also listed. The information relates to all residents registered in Beijing. These include people with permanent residence ( 戶口 / 户口 , hùkǒu ) and temporary residents ( 流動人口 / 流动人口 , liúdòng rénkǒu ) with a temporary residence permit ( 暫住證 / 暂住证 , zànzhùzhèng ).
