Pinggu ( Chinese 平谷 区 , Pinyin Pínggǔ Qū ) is a district in the east of the Chinese capital Beijing . Pinggu County existed until 2001. The district covers an area of 950.13 km² and borders the port metropolis of Tianjin to the east . In 1990 censuses counted 386,234 inhabitants in Pinggu, 396,701 in 2000, and 415,958 in 2010. Pinggu is predominantly agricultural and is of regional importance for peach cultivation.
Administrative structure
At the community level, the municipality is made up of two street districts , fourteen large municipalities and two municipalities .
