Dongcheng ( Chinese  东城 区 , Pinyin Dōngchéng Qū , translated "eastern district") is a district of the Chinese capital Beijing . After the Chongwen District was dissolved on July 1, 2010 and its area was integrated into Dongcheng, it has an area of ​​41.84 km². The November 2010 census counted 919,253 residents in Dongcheng.

Dongcheng is located in the northeast of the historic old town.

The city district is home to many important streets and sights. Wangfujing and Dongdan are well-known shopping streets in the district, the eastern part of Chang'an Avenue and the northeast part of the Second Ring Road also belong to Dongcheng.
