Zhihua Temple

The Zhihua Temple ( 智 化寺 , Zhìhuā sì ) is a Buddhist temple in the Beijing district of Dongcheng (Lumicang Hutong 5). It was built by the eunuch Wang Zhen in the Zhengtong era of the Ming Dynasty and has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (1-110) since 1961 .

Temple music

The temple is known for its rich collection of Buddhist music. Very ancient forms of music were preserved in the temple. The Beijing music in the Zhihua Monastery (Zhihua si Jing yinyue 智 化寺 京 音乐), the "music from the capital" or "Jing music" ( Jing yinyue ), has been on the list of the intangible cultural heritage of the People's Republic since 2006 China .
