Confucius Temple (Beijing)
The Confucius Temple ( Chinese 孔庙 , Pinyin Kǒng Miào ) in Beijing was built in 1306 and is the second largest temple for the worship of Confucius after the Confucius Temple in Qufu , the hometown of the philosopher in Shandong Province .
It is located in the northeast of the old town of Beijing, in the immediate vicinity of the former city gate Andingmen and the Lama Temple . The plant has an area of around 22,000 square meters. Over 300 steles with inscriptions with the names of successful examiners and some classic Confucian texts are kept in the temple . Exhibition halls present the history of Confucianism.
The Beijing Confucius Temple ( 北京 孔庙 , Beijing Kongmiao ) has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (3-82) since 1988 .
