Solar altar

The sun altar or sun temple ( Chinese  日 壇  /  日 坛 , Pinyin Rìtán ) in the Beijing district of Chaoyang was laid out in 1530 in the time of the Ming dynasty and used by the emperor for sacrificial purposes during the time of the Ming and Qing dynasties. At the opposite end of the city center is the Moon Altar ( Yuetan ) in Yuetan Park.

The solar altar has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-304) since 2006 .

The temple is located in Ritan Park or Sun Altar Park (日 坛 公园).
