Wangfujing Street

Wangfujing ( Chinese  王府井 社区 , Pinyin Wángfǔjǐng Shèqū ) is a community in the Donghuamen street district of the Dongcheng district in the Chinese capital Beijing . Wangfujing is one of the most famous and important shopping streets in China. It was an important trading post as early as the Ming Dynasty ; in the later Qing dynasty , nobles built their residences on Wangfujing Street ( wángfǔseat of government of the king”, jǐng “fountain”).

Countless shops, shopping centers and cafes are located on the street, most of which are not accessible to vehicles. In 1903 the Dong'an Market was opened, and there is also a Christian church on the street.
