St. Sulpitius Church

The castle-like former Premonstratensian Abbey of Heylissem is located on the site of today's 28 hectare Provincial Domain Opheylissem . The buildings were built between 1760 and 1780 according to plans by the architect Laurent-Benoît Dewez . Today the dome of the church and the two wings of the prelature are still standing . The buildings and the park were redesigned in the neoclassical style by Alphonse Balat around 1870 . The parish church of St. Martin is not far from the provincial domain. It was built around 1830.

In the Neerheylissem district is the 12th century Romanesque St. Sulpitius Church. It is a three-aisled church with a transept. The massive tower, which was raised in the 17th century, is striking.
