Villers-la-Ville is a city in the province of Walloon Brabant in the region Wallonia in Belgium . It has 10,702 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019).
geography
The city is located in the south of the province of Walloon Brabant 17 km east of Nivelles , around 30 km southeast of Brussels and around 30 km northwest of Namur .

Culture and sights
Buildings
The city's sights include the ruins of the Cistercian Abbey of Villers . They are considered to be the largest ruins of a monastery in Belgium .

There are two football stadiums , tennis courts and two golf courses in the city .

The city lies on the Ottignies - Villers-la-Ville - Charleroi - Tamines railway line and is served by regional trains ( L trains in Belgium ) that run every hour (as of January 2005 ). There are also some regional bus routes operated by TEC .
Established businesses
The operation of the winery belonging to the former monastery was resumed in 1990 . The annual wine production is only around 1,000 liters ; Wine , however, has in Belgium a rarity.
