Lasne ( Walloon Lane ) is a municipality in the French-speaking province of Walloon Brabant in Belgium . It consists of the districts of Couture-Saint-Germain , Lasne-Chapelle-St-Lambert , Maransart , Ohain and Plancenoit .

The neighboring municipalities are Braine-l'Alleud , Waterloo , Rixensart , La Hulpe , Genappe and Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve .

Lasne has twinned cities with Abbeville in the US and Azay le Rideau in France .

history

The current district of Plancenoit was bitterly fought over between French and Prussian troops during the Battle of Waterloo . The conquest of the place finally enabled the Prussians to reach the center of the battlefield and put the French to flight. A Prussian monument was erected a little later in Plancenoit.
