Daufresne became a professional tennis player in 1988. In the course of his career he played primarily on the ATP Challenger Tour , where he won the double titles of Knokke-Heist and Odrimont in 1989 with Denis Langaskens , and his only single title in Cali in 1991 . He had his greatest success on the ATP World Tour in 1992 in Johannesburg , where he made it to the quarter-finals after defeating Kevin Curren and Jeremy Bates and also stood alongside Pablo Arraya in the semi-finals of the doubles competition. In the same year he had further semifinals at ATP tournaments in Bordeaux with Stéphane Simian and Taipei with Dick Norman . He reached the highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1994 with position 109 in singles and 1992 with position 150 in doubles.
His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the round of 16 at the Australian Open in 1994. After he had never even qualified for a Grand Slam tournament, he scored sensational victories over the highly favored Thomas Johansson in 1994 , Thomas Enqvist and Patrick Rafter before losing to Todd Martin in four sets . In the same year he reached the second round of the French Open ; after defeating Frédéric Fontang , he lost to Cédric Pioline . He did not succeed in further qualifying for a Grand Slam tournament afterwards.
Daufresne played seven singles and six doubles games for the Belgian Davis Cup team between 1988 and 1994 . His greatest success with the team was participation in the first round of the world group in 1994. In the 5-0 defeat against the Netherlands , he lost his singles against Jan Siemerink and Paul Haarhuis ; as well as the doubles at Filip Dewulf's side .
