from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Guanzhong (engl. Central Plain Shaanxi ) or consecration or Wei-He plane (Wei He Pingyuan 渭河平原 ) - also Guanzhong level or Guanzhong flat land ( 关中平原 Guanzhong Pingyuan , "plane surface between [ the "Passes" (opposite word sequence)) or Weihe (Wei He) basin ( Wei He pendi ) or Guanzhong basin ( Guanzhong pendi ) - is an approximately 13,000 square kilometer plain in the heart of the Chinese province of Shaanxi. The historical cities of Xi'an and Xianyang lie within it. It is known for its ancient irrigation and drainage system (see Zheng Guo Canal ) and is an important Chinese agricultural area.

There are several Neolithic sites in the plain.

In the Warring States Period between 475 BC. BC and 221 BC BC the plain was the heartland of the state of Qin (秦).
