Guenther Wachsmuth (born October 4, 1893 in Dresden , † March 2, 1963 in Dornach SO ) was a German anthroposophist and author.

Life

Guenther Wachsmuth was born in 1893 as the second son of a Dresden pediatrician. After finishing school in Dresden in 1908, Wachsmuth was sent to the Glarisegg rural education home in Switzerland, which was run by reform pedagogy , and then to the Wickersdorf rural school in Saalfeld . In autumn 1912 he passed his Abitur in Langensalza . He then studied law in Oxford and Munich.

In August 1914 he registered as a volunteer and was permanently injured in his left arm in Russia; he nevertheless remained as an orderly officer in the war effort. After the war he resumed his studies in Munich and graduated in 1919 with a doctorate in Würzburg. In the same year he had his first personal encounter with Rudolf Steiner .

After the fire at the first Goetheanum , he became Steiner's personal assistant: he got him literature, organized his trips and accompanied him, took care of his protection and actively campaigned for the reconstruction of the Goetheanum. When the Anthroposophical Society was re-established in 1923/24, he was appointed board member, treasurer and secretary; he held this position until his death in 1963.
