Guido Born

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Guido Born (born in Saarbrücken , real name Horst Müller ) is a German pop singer .

Life

Guido Born was discovered in 1966, at that time still under his real name Horst Müller, at a young talent competition in Saarbrücken and signed for Deutsche Vogue, a subsidiary of Disques Vogue . His first single was in 1967 Tell Me Why (on the tune of the popular Mexican folk song La Golondrina ). Around the publication there are rumors that a former employee of the label has placed the German version of La Golondrina with Cliff Richard at a competitor in order to reduce Born's success. So Born may have been a victim of industrial espionage . Cliff Richards A Girl Like You appeared in 1967 almost at the same time as Born's Tell me why, in contrast to Richard (number 23 in the charts) Born missed the hit parade. This was followed by the publication Faith in it , in the original the winning title of the 1952 Sanremo Festival Vola Colomba by Nilla Pizzi . The title stayed in the German single charts for two weeks and reached position 40. Subsequently, his record company dropped it despite the chart placement. Born moved to the newly founded German branch of "Saga Records" called "Saga Opp", but his songs Lady Girl and Heartbreak Melodie , which were recorded in England in German, were not successful. Born then ended his hit career.

Since the 1990s Born, who was employed by the city of Saarbrücken , has appeared again as a musician in public under his real name.
