Guido Kasmann (born January 30, 1959 in Cologne ) is a German educator , musician and author . In 2003 he published his first children's book Appetit auf Blutorangen and since 2009 has devoted himself exclusively to writing as well as the conception and implementation of his readings accompanied by music.

Life

Career

Guido Kasmann was born and raised in Cologne . Through his community service in an Italian kindergarten, he found his job as a primary school teacher. He studied German and music for the primary level and after his exams worked as a primary school teacher in Mönchengladbach . At the study seminar there, he trained teachers in music. He lives in Cologne today.

Work as an author

Kasmann first began to invent and write down stories for his own children and offer them to various publishers. His first publication was the children's novel Appetit für Blutorangen . Other books followed, most of which he published in the BVK Buch Verlag Kempen. His stories are suitable for didactic implementation and are also used as classroom reading. He holds up to 250 readings a year nationwide , which he calls narrative theater with music . He also gives lectures on the importance of reading for a lasting motivation to read and composes music for children.

Awards and grants

In 2019, his children's novel Roberto und Sarah was in the shortlist for the children's book prize Kieler Lesesprotte . For his idea for the youth novel Karims Flucht , he received a grant from the City of Cologne for children's and youth book authors in 2020.
