Guido Mensching

Guido Mensching (born February 26, 1963 ) is a German Romanist .

Life

From 1984 to 1990 he studied Spanish, Italian and German philology in Cologne and Seville. From 1990 to 1999 he was a research assistant / assistant at the Institute for Linguistic Information Processing, University of Cologne . From 1991 to 1994 he undertook several research trips to Paris and Seville as part of DAAD- funded projects on French and Spanish. After obtaining his doctorate in 1992, he stayed in Princeton in 1995 as part of a DAAD-funded project with the Institute for Advanced Study . After completing his habilitation in 1997, he was a C3 professor for historical and cultural information processing at the University of Cologne from 1997 to 1999 . In 1999 he was offered a C4 position for Romance linguistics at the Free University of Berlin . In 1999 he was a C3 professor for Romance Linguistics (French and Spanish) at the University of Konstanz . In 1999 he was offered a C3 position for Romance linguistics at the University of Konstanz (rejected). In 2000 he accepted the offer of a C4 position for Romance linguistics at the Free University of Berlin. In 2007 he was offered a W3 professorship for Romance linguistics at the University of Leipzig . In 2008 he refused this offer; Conversion of the C4 professorship in Berlin to a W3 professorship. Since 2008 he has been a member of the DFG- Fachkollegium 104 Sprachwissenschaften (re-elected in 2012). In September 2012 he was offered a W3 professorship for Romance linguistics at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (acceptance). Since April 2013 he has held the W3 professorship for Romance linguistics at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen .
