Guillaume-Albert Teniers

Guillaume-Albert Teniers ; and Willem Albert Teniers (* 20th April 1748 in Leuven ; † 12. February 1820 in Amsterdam ) was a French violinist and composer .

Live and act

Guillaume Teniers was a descendant of the important Flemish painting family Teniers. In the course of his life he held numerous concertmaster positions in theaters and opera houses in various European cities. He had his first known job in 1775 at the “Théâtre des Spectacles” in Brussels, in 1780 he was concertmaster at the Opera in The Hague, during which time he wrote his violin concertos and gave numerous public solo concerts. From 1792 he worked at the Brussels Opera La Monnaie . After a brief engagement at the French theater in Hamburg, he moved to the Netherlands from 1800. He had a job at the French theater in Amsterdam, and he also gave violin lessons.
