Guillermo Subiabre Astorga (born February 25, 1903 in Osorno , Chile , † 1964 in Chile) was a Chilean football player .

The striker , known as Chato and equipped with goal instinct, was characterized in particular by his good header game and his shooting strength. According to information on the website of his ex-club Colo Colo, his powerful shot is said to have even caused injuries to goalkeepers and one or the other goal nets shot through. At club level, he first played for the local club in his hometown Osorno, Rangers FC. He then worked for Liverpool Wanderers and Santiago Wanderers . From his debut on January 1, 1927 against a selection formed by the clubs Nacional and Gold Cross until 1934, he represented the colors of Colo-Colo for eight seasons , including six years during the times of Chilean amateur football and two years during the professional era. During this time he won the championship of the Liga Central de Football de Santiago in 1928 and 1929 with his teammates and in 1930 that of the Asociación de Fútbol de Santiago . In 1934 Subiabre was named honorario vitalicio (honorary player for life) by Colo Colo.
National team
Subiabre was also a member of the national team of his home country and took part with her in the Campeonato Sudamericano in 1926 . There he was used in four games and scored two goals. He was also part of the Chilean squad at the Olympic Games in 1928 and the first World Cup in 1930 . At the World Cup, he contributed one or two goals in three missions, depending on the sources. Overall, he was able to score 10 goals in his 14 international appearances.
