Guinate is a place on the Canary Island of Lanzarote , belonging to the northern municipality of Haría . Guinate has 36 inhabitants (2011).
This small village is located at the foot of the Monte Corona volcano in the middle of a fertile plateau. A handful of white houses and the small chapel Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes give the village its appearance. Every year a pilgrimage takes place here the next Sunday on February 11th.
A little outside there is the Mirador de Guinate viewpoint at almost 400 meters above sea level , which offers a view over the Risco de Famara to the Chinijo Archipelago with the islands of La Graciosa , Montaña Clara , Alegranza and Roque del Oeste . The Tropical Park, which was opened by the British in 1990, is located near this viewing terrace . On an area of around 4,500 square meters, it is home to around 1,300 exotic plants and animals, including many birds.
