The Guizhou JL-9 Shanying (Mountain Eagle) is a Chinese two-seat advanced trainer aircraft that can also be used as a light attack aircraft. It has been put into service for the Chinese air force and the Chinese naval aviation and is also used in the export variant FTC-2000 by the Sudanese People's Army .

development

Guizhou has further developed the JL-9 from the two-seater school version JJ-7 of the MiG-21- based interceptor Chengdu J-7 . It has new air inlets, cockpit and cockpit hood and further adjustments to the cell structure such as tail surfaces, etc. A SELEX Galileo (FIAR Grifo S7) Pulse Doppler radar is built into the newly designed nose . The last version of the JL-9G was developed for the training of carrier pilots in the Chinese naval forces.
