Gummel plot

Gummel plot with U CE = const.

The Gummel plot is a graphic from electronics named after Hermann Gummel , which plots the electrical currents I C and I B of a bipolar transistor against the base-emitter voltage U BE in a semi-logarithmic representation.

This representation is very useful for describing bipolar transistor components, as it shows the quality of the base-emitter transition with a constant base-collector voltage U BC . In addition, some other parameters can be read from the Gummel plot. These include the gain B , series resistance and leakage currents of the transistor.
