The Gun was a cargo steamer from Sweden. The ship belonged to the Aktiebolag Vinga shipping company in Gothenburg . It was built in Great Britain in 1891 by J. Blumer & Co. in Sunderland .

The gun was sunk in World War II on October 1, 1939 at 9:10 a.m. by the German submarine U 3 (Kapitänleutnant Joachim Schepke ) by a torpedo hit . The sinking position was 30 nautical miles northwest of Hanstholm (Denmark) in the North Sea, in naval grid square AN 3647. The fate of the crew is unclear.

The ship had 50 tons of ammunition loaded and was on its way to Antwerp .
