Gunar Schimrock

Gunar Schimrock (born March 19, 1959 in Bahrendorf ) is a former German handball goalkeeper .

Gunar "Gromek" Schimrock played from the 1977/78 season to the 1996/97 season in the first men's team of SC Magdeburg . He wore the number 16 on his back. With the club he was GDR champion seven times (1980–1985, 1988), three times DHV cup winner (1978, 1984, 1990), won the European championship in 1978 and 1981 and the club's European championship in 1981, was DHB Cup winner in 1996 and German runner-up in 1991.

Schimrock played 57 international matches for the GDR national team . His successes in the national team include sixth place at the World Handball Championship (WM) in 1982 and third place at the 1986 World Cup .

After his active career, Schimrock became a marketing employee at SC Magdeburg.
