Gunnar Jansson (soccer player)

Gunnar Alexius Jansson (born July 17, 1907 , † May 13, 1988 ) was a Swedish football player . The striker made two appearances in the Swedish national team in 1934 .

Career

Jansson played for Gefle IF in the Allsvenskan in the 1930s . On May 23, 1934 he made his debut in the 4-2 success over the Polish national team in the Jersey of the Swedish national team. His career peaked in the summer of that year when he was named to the Swedish squad for the 1934 World Cup . However, he was not used during the tournament for the team that failed in the quarter-finals to Germany . In September of that year he played again in the 3-1 win against Latvia . Until Johan Oremo was appointed in 2008, he was the last Gefle IF international for over 70 years.
