Gunnar Koerdt

Gunnar Koerdt (born April 30, 1959 in Cologne ) was the full-time mayor ( CDU ) of the city of Bedburg in the Rhein-Erft district in North Rhine-Westphalia from 2004 to 2014 .

Koerdt grew up in the nearby Brauweiler , a district of Pulheim .

After graduating from high school in 1978 at the municipal high school in Frechen , he did his basic military service in the German Armed Forces in Wuppertal from 1978 to 1979. From 1979 to 1986 Koerdt studied law and economics at the University of Cologne . The first state examination in law followed in 1986 and the second in 1990. On January 1, 1979, Koerdt joined the CDU.

From 1990 to 1995 he was an authorized signatory at Berotex GmbH in Cologne. From January 1997 Gunnar Koerdt worked for 14 months as a research assistant at the CDU Erftkreis, now the Rhein-Erft-Kreis. Before he had attended an intensive controlling seminar and completed an internship at Schmitt-Sausen Verwaltungs-GmbH in Hürth. From 1998 to 2000 Koerdt worked as a contract lawyer for DaimlerChrysler Aerospace AG. From July 2000 to September 2004 he was employed as 1st alderman and treasurer at the city of Bedburg. In October 2004 he was elected Mayor of Bedburg as the successor to the previous incumbent Willi Harren. In 2009 he was re-elected for five years with 39.88% of the votes cast. In the 2014 local elections, he was defeated by Sascha Solbach .

Since January 1, 2017, he has been the full-time managing director of the CDU council group in Wiesbaden in Hesse.

Gunnar Koerdt is married and has two children.
