Sascha Solbach

Sascha Solbach (born January 3, 1980 in Frechen as Sascha Esser) has been the full-time mayor of the city of Bedburg since June 23, 2014 and is a member of the SPD .

Life

Solbach grew up in Elsdorf - Berrendorf and passed his Abitur in 2000 at the Silverberg Gymnasium in Bedburg. He studied political science in Bonn .

From 2006 Solbach worked as a freelance consultant for political communication and previously worked for three and a half years as a consultant in the area of ​​press and public relations at the Federal Ministry of Health. After joining the SPD in 2010, Solbach became managing director of the SPD city association Bedburg in January 2011 and was also managing director of the parliamentary group in the city council from June 2011. From February 2012, Sascha Solbach worked for the Cologne SPD members of the state parliament and also headed the joint office of the seven Cologne members.

Since May 2013 he has been deputy chairman of the joint Bedburg SPD local association.

On May 25, 2014, Solbach was elected the new mayor for six years with around 58% of the votes cast, replacing Gunnar Koerdt in this office.

Since June 17, 2016 he has been chairman of the Institute for European Partnerships and International Cooperation (IPZ) in Hürth .
