Blerichen is a district of Bedburg in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis , North Rhine-Westphalia . The local mayor is the former actress Nadine Heuser-Spruß ( CDU ).

location

Blerichen is a south-eastern district of Bedburg. The Erft flows through the village, which borders the Bergheim opencast mine to the east . The main thoroughfare is highway 361 .

history

The Blerichen settlement used to be owned by the Echternach Imperial Abbey . The place was first mentioned in a document in 997, when Emperor Otto III. returned the village to the imperial abbey. Politically, Blerichen later belonged to Bedburg, but ecclesiastically to the parish of Kirdorf .

The Düren – Neuss railway , built in 1869, ran right through the district. It has been shut down since 1996.
