history

The Fronhof in Puthze , which at that time belonged to the Füssenich Monastery # Das Stift , was first mentioned in 1194. The Catholic Chapel of St. Johannes Nepomuk is a branch church of Kirchherten . It was first erected in 1766 as a baroque building and replaced in 1888 by a single-nave, neo-Romanesque new building based on plans by Erasmus Schüller .

On February 27, 1945, the time of National Socialism and the Second World War ended in Pütz . Allied troops crossed the Rur on February 23 (see Operation Grenade ); On the night of February 25th to 26th, 1945, they took grottoes under constant fire. Most of the German Tiger tanks withdrew. In the early morning of February 27th, Grottenherten fell. Pütz and Königshoven were also captured after heavy artillery fire and chain bombs .

In Pütz there is a centuries-old yew gazebo that is maintained by the city.

On January 1, 1975, Pütz was incorporated into the city of Bedburg.
